Fitness Across the Lifespan

Staying strong, mobile, and confident on your feet becomes more important — not less possible — as we get older. At Calwell Physiotherapy Clinic, we work with older adults to maintain and rebuild strength, balance, and function, whether you're managing a specific condition or simply want to stay active and independent for longer.
Areas we support:
- Falls risk assessment and falls prevention programs
- Strength and balance training for older adults
- Post-fracture and post-hospitalisation rehabilitation
- Osteoporosis-related exercise programs
- Chronic disease management, including cardiovascular and respiratory conditions
- Mobility and gait assessment
- Group exercise classes in residential aged care settings
- Home-based physiotherapy for clients accessing My Aged Care / Support at Home services
Physiotherapy through My Aged Care and Support at Home
We provide physiotherapy services for eligible older adults through the My Aged Care and Support at Home programs, including individual assessment and treatment and group exercise classes within residential aged care facilities. If you or a family member holds a Support at Home package, physiotherapy can generally be accessed as part of your care plan — get in touch with us or your care coordinator to discuss referral.
Why strength and balance training matters at any age
Research consistently supports the role of targeted strength and balance exercise in maintaining independence and reducing falls risk in older adults. Programs are tailored to current ability and any existing health conditions, and progressed gradually over time — there's no assumption that a program has to be gentle just because it's for an older adult; intensity is set based on what's appropriate for you.
